Czech is one of the Slavic’s languages. Czech is the official language of the Czech Republic and the European Union. In The Slovak
republic is Czech official language too. History of the Czech language Slavs came to region of current the Czech Republic at the end of 5th century from the territory of present-day Poland. They based own state called the Empire of Samo. The first mention of the Czech documents is from the 12th century. In the 14th century was wrote first books in the Czech. Charles IVth let translated the Bible into Czech. Approximately between 14th and 15th century Jan Hus developed

diacritical marks and appended it into Czech, for purpose to connect written and

spoken forms of the Czech. Since 1620, importance of the Czech language was decreased, because majority of habitants wrote in Latin, and spoke in German. Since 19th century when National Czech revivalists restored language, Czech has not changed dramatically. Assumed Words Czech assumed many words from other languages depend on time, branch and other conditions. For example, from the Greek words like

Czech imported from the German – dumplings, ham, bag, sunglasses and knight;democracy, parabola, type; from Latin – school, crucifix, doctor;

  • from the Polish-myth, science, beauty; from The Russian-air, nature;
  • from the English-football, hockey, tennis, software, hardware;
  • from the Arabic-alcohol, coffee, tobacco;
  • from Turkish- yogurt, hat and from the Chinese-tea, ketchup.

Czech Language have nearly 250 000 words and number of words continually is rising. Over 11 million habitants of the Czech Republic use Czech as native language. Czech language is used thousand exiles in many countries like USA, Canada, Germany, Austria, Australia and the Ukraine and other countries. Exported Words Vice versa some of the large dictionary of Czech was accepted in other languages. Some of them are in: English – hacek, kolach, polka, robot, pistol. Norwegian: pils – světlé pivo, robot – robot, pistol – pistole, haubits – houfnice. German: Chaluppe – chalupa, petschaft- pečeť, kolatche- koláč, zeisig- čížek Italian: criceto- křeček
